Filler episode not in manga
Naruto, Jiraiya, Shizune and Tsunade take a detour to visit the hot springs before returning to Konoha. Two debt collectors have been looking for Tsunade and steal Naruto's necklace thinking it's hers. He ends up trying to help them by pretending to be their hostage. Madness ensues when Shizune gets the ransom note and can't find Tsunade.

Ep 98
Naruto is back in Konoha and gets Tsuande to heal Sasuke and Kakashi. However, Lee's is not a simple case and she recommends he quit as a ninja.

Ep 99
Konohamaru locks himself in the Hokage's office and barricades the door and booby-traps the entire room. Naruto tries to convince him to come out. Meanwhile Tsunade is trying to find a way to improve Lee's chances of surviving the operation.

Ep 100
Lee thinks about how difficult it has been for him to achieve his dream of being a shinobi. Flashback includes a "fight" between Kakashi and Gai. Gai finds Lee and encourages to go through with the operation.

Ep 101
Team 7 concocts various plans to see Kakashi's face including inviting him out for ramen and stalking. Kakashi's past enemies try to kill him in funny ways.

Ep 102
Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura are assigned a B rank mission as bodyguard and escort for the runner participating in Country of Tea's Todoroki Shrine Offering Ceremony. The runner, Idate, apparently hates ninjas.

Ep 103
Idate takes a different path than expected. Three rain genins try illusions to stop them but they succeed in reaching the boat. But the rain genins are still in pursuit and set their boat on fire!

Ep 104
Naruto defeats the rain genins. The team finds Idate beaten up by Aoi, the leader of the rain team. Aoi also takes out Sasuke and Naruto with poison senbon, but Sakura has special medicine. Idate reveals that Aoi was his mentor at Leaf Village. He tricked Idate into stealing the forbidden scroll and the sword of Raijin.

Ep 105
Naruto carries Idate to the first stop to get the jewel. Idate has healed and runs to the bridge but Aoi is there and beats him up again. Naruto appears but he is also taken out by the Raijin. Idate flashback to how his brother Ibiki was tortured and how Idate abandoned him. Sasuke uses his chidori against Aoi, but the Raijin is able to block it. Saskue and Sakura fall into the abyss.

Ep 106
Sakura saves Sasuke and reaches a ledge. Naruto defeats Aoi by breaking the Raijin with his rasengan. Idate finally catches up to the other runner, but will he be disqualified even if he wins?
