Ep 80
The Hokage is dead. Orochimaru escapes with help from the four sound ninjas who had erected the field. Meanwhile Temari and Kankurou leave with Gaara. The funeral service for the Hokage and other victims is being held but Kakashi is at the shinobi memorial and arrives later. Iruka comforts Konohamaru and Naruto at the funeral.

Ep 81
The 2 strangers from the previous episode walk up to the village gate. They are stopped by a guard, but he is easily put to sleep with a look. Kabuto and Orochimaru discuss Itachi. Jiraiya is approached by advisors Homura and Koharu to be the next Hokage but he suggests Tsunade, the other sannin. Meanwhile Kakashi is waiting for Sasuke while Itachi is sitting in the dumpling house behind him. Asuma and Kurenai confront Itachi and Kisame.

Ep 82
Jiraiya convinces Naruto to go on a quest with him by promising to teach him a new technique. Kakashi faces off against Itachi, but he's no match and is trapped in an illusion where he's stabbed for 72 hours. Kurenai and Asuma are also useless against Itachi, who will save them?

Ep 83
Jiraiya and Naruto are on the road. Jiraiya has flashbacks to when he was a genin and tied to a log. The jounin are gathered around Kakashi's bed when Sasuke and another shinobi come by. Sasuke finds out Itachi is after Naruto and runs off to find him.

Ep 84
Naruto opens the door, at first he thinks it's Sasuke but then realizes he's not, but the man has the same eyes. Kisame wants to cut Naruto up a bit. Sasuke thinks back to the day his clan was wiped out. Sasuke finds Naruto, sees Itachi and starts his chidori!

Ep 85
Jiraiya arrives in time, but Sasuke insists on another try at Itachi. But the difference between him and Itachi has not shrank at all. Jiraiya uses ninpou gamaguchi shibari (frog mouth trap). Itachi and Kisame cannot defeat this jutsu. They try to escape as the walls of the mouth close in on them!

Ep 86
Gai has a gift for Naruto before they part - a green jumpsuit! Jiraiya discusses Tsunade who can change her appearance. They reach a town with a festival going on. Naruto eats and plays while Jiraiya plays in an adult way and spends all of Naruto's money. They fight and end up ruining an expensive suit of an ex-Stone nin. Jiraiya decides to show Naruto a technique where he gathers chakra into a rotating ball and sends the irate guys flying.

Ep 87
Naruto is practicing rotating the water in the water balloon. He asks Jiraiya for help, but Jiraiya says he's supposed to try different methods and learn on his own. Jiraiya gives a lesson on chakra rotation. Naruto clears the first step by watching a cat. He places the water balloon in his left hand and concentrates chakra in his right hand. He passes his right hand over the ball several times and it pops. Next step Jiraiya gives Naruto a rubberball and explodes it as a demo. It is 100x harder than a water balloon!

Ep 88
Orochimaru screams about his arms and kills his caretaker. Kabuto comes in and complains about the mess. Kabuto has found where Tsunade is and they travel to find her. Jiraiya takes off his hand protector and shows Naruto a spiral mark on his right hand. Jiraiya explains about concentration. Naruto is not making progress and thinks back to the time Iruka tells Shikamaru, Kiba, Naruto and Choji that they lack concentration. Naruto doesn't hold back and the ball finally explodes!

Ep 89
Jiraiya shows Naruto the third and final step in his training. He has to be able to control 100% of his power. Orochimaru and Tsunade face off. She realizes he is sick. Orochimaru offers to resurrect her little brother and her man with the forbidden technique he developed!

Ep 90
Tsunade flashbacks to her little brother and boyfriend. Orochimaru moves his right arm to his mouth and bites his forefinger, blood drips. Tsunade start to tremble. Jiraiya and Naruto enter a bar and finally find Tsunade. Tsunade doesn't tell them about Orochimaru's offer but starts to shuffle and deal cards. Jiraiya tells her the village wants her to be the Fifth Hokage but she turns it down and insults the Hokage. Naruto says whoever insults the 3rd or 4th even if it's a girl, deserves a punch in the face. Tsunade tells him he's got nerve to say that to her and to step outside!

Ep 91
Naruto attacks, but Tsunade hits the ground with her finger and a huge crack appears and Naruto falls into the crack. Tsunade makes a bet with him, if he can master it within a week she'll acknowledge that he can be Hokage and she'll give him her necklace as well. Tsunade sits on top of the city gate and thinks back to her little brother Nawaki's birthday when she gives him the necklace of the first Hokage. He gets killed soon afterwards and she meets Dan at a shinobi conference. Both her brother and Dan want to be Hokage and protect the village. She gives him the necklace, but he gets killed too. Tsunade walks around thinking of Orochimaru's offer and Jiraiya's offer.

Ep 92
Orochimaru and Kabuto discuss the destruction of Konoha once his arms are cured. Naruto continues practicing until he passes out. Jiraiya goes to see Tsunade and invites her out for drinks where she slips something into his sake. Tsunade goes to meet Orochimaru.

Ep 93
Kabuto could tell Tsunade's chakra was filled with the intent to kill. Orochimaru says he really intended to revive her loved ones and even promised not to crush Konoha. Tsunade knew he was lying and attacks them. Kabuto is not good at hand to hand combat so he takes a food pill before facing Tsunade. They trade medical jutsus, but Kabuto uses her fear of blood against her. Will Jiraiya and company arrive in time?

Ep 94
Jiraiya wants Tsunade to do something about his body but Shizune says the drug effects will last for a while. Jiraiya tells Naruto to guard Tsunade and the pig. Naruto protests but Jiraiya says only he can fight Orochimaru. Orochimaru and Kabuto summon 2 snakes while Jiraiya summons a little frog! Naruto summons another Little frog! Kabuto is about to punch out Tsunade but Naruto appears in front of her and he hits Naruto's forehead protector instead. Naruto's forehead bleeds from the blow and he starts his rasengan!.

Ep 95
The rasengan forms a ball around Kakuto and he collides against a huge boulder. Kabuto is still standing but Naruto coughs up blood then collapses. Kabuto had accumulated chakra to his abdomen and began healing before he took the hit. Kabuto has damaged Naruto's heart and says there is no way for him to recover, but as Tsunade's tears fall on Naruto's abdomen and seal, Naruto's hand reaches up to her necklace. Orochimaru is about to attack Naruto but Tsunade throws herself over Naruto and she takes the sword in her back.

Ep 96
The legendary sannins have completed their summons. Gamabunta blows smoke at Manda, Orochimaru's snake. Katsuyu, Tsunade's slug makes the first move and uses zesshi nensan (sticky mouth acid) but Manda avoids it. Manda wraps itself around Katsuyu and is about to bite it but Gamabunta attacks with his dagger. Tsunade appears with the dagger and pins Manda's mouth to the ground. Then she faces off against Orochimaru!
