Ep 184: Inuzuka Kiba's Long Day

Tsunade asks Naruto to keep an eye on Akamaru who was injured in an incident where someone infiltrated Konoha. The intruders committed suicide so their special battle technique (biological warefare) would not be revealed. The special bacteria causes the infected to lose control of his body and it is possible that Akamaru was infected.

Hinata and Shino train as Akamaru rests and Kiba watches. Kiba decides to leave but Shino's bugs attack Akamaru. Shino tries to stop the bugs but they disobey him. He performs a seal and forces the bugs to return. Kiba leaves with Akamaru and Shino notes that this is the first time the insects have ever attacked their comrade.

While tailing Kiba, Naruto falls from a tree.

Kiba's sister tells him that there's a 50/50 chance that Akamaru has been infected. They hear a ruckus outside and find Akamaru biting Naruto. There's a large rip in the seat of his pants. Kiba's sister sews it but it looks like surgery stitches. She suggests that he asks Sakura to help him.

Next day Naruto reports to Tsunade when Shizune comes running in. They go to the scene of the incident where medics are attending to several shinobi who were attacked during their evening training session. At first Tsunade assumes they were attached by a number of people but Shizune says they were attacked by one animal.

Kiba and Hana realize it was Akamaru who had attacked. Kiba can smell the blood on Akamaru. Three ANBU show up to retrieve Kiba by the Hokage's orders. They lock Akamaru in a little dog carrier case. Later Hana hands Kiba a bag with a mixture of herbs for the other veterinarians.

Naruto asks Tsunade why Akamaru was taken. She explains he was responsible for the attack and now the medical team is working to find a way to save him. If they're unsuccessful, they'll have to kill him.

Kiba sneaks Akamaru out of the hospital. Shizune reports it to Tsunade who orders the special pursuit team be brought in. Naruto runs to find Kiba.

Akamaru's condition is getting worse.

Tsunade gives Hana the formula created by the medical team, but there's only a 50/50 chance that it will save him or react the opposite way and cause him to become even more violent.

Naruto catches up with Kiba who thinks he's there to kill Akamaru way so Kiba attacks Naruto. Naruto tells him he wants to help and the special pursuit unit is on its way. Hana arrives and tells them about the formula. Naruto employs kage bunshin but Kiba refuses to do anything. Akamaru is huge now! Hana's dogs attack Akamaru's legs and he falls to the ground. Naruto jumps on top of him. Hana tries to inject the solution but Akamaru flings them all away. The formula rolls toward Kiba who picks it up. Kiba tries talking and apologizing to Akamaru, but Akamaru jumps at him.

Kiba lies in the hospital. Tsunade says he was lucky Akamaru missed his vital areas. But Kiba says Akamaru used up his strength to stop himself.

Review: Surprisingly not that bad.

Notes: Hana is a veterinarian but not at the shinobi hospital so she must have her own practice.
