Ep 173: Sea Battle! A Power That's Released Over Time

Naruto's orange chakra swirls about him. Amachi-Kaima shoots out water cannonballs, but Naruto is unaffected.

He runs toward Amachi-Kaima directly, lands a punch and kicks him in the air. Naruto goes back to normal and falls unconsicous into the water after defeating Amachi. Isaribi jumps into the water to save him.

Yoroi leaps from the water to attack Shino but Ino counters with Shinranshin no jutsu (mental break technique) which causes Yoroi to fall short so that Shino is able to land a punch. But Shino faints afterwards as he is low on chakra. Yoroi attacks Ino instead but Shino's bugs engulf him. Shino gets up saying "Don't turn your back on the enemy. You've forgotten the basic rules of combat."

Amachi returns to normal and sees that Yoroi is out. Anko captures him using her snakes as a lasso. Although tied up, Amachi says it's not over. The Sea Boss reappears. Naruto punches out Amachi then summons Gamabunta who is not happy and flicks his pipe ashes onto Naruto and takes him for a ride. He complains about his itchy skin forming blisters. Amachi comments that Gamabunta will be swallowed by the Sea Boss and end up like a slug dissolved in water. This insult causes Gamabunta to agree to help Naruto. Gamabunta sticks his dagger into the Sea Boss but it wraps around him. He manages to pull himself away, but the Sea Boss reforms. Gamabunta explains to Naruto that it is a monster made of a mass of water with energy centered at its nucleus. They have to damage its energy source. He suggests heating it up so that it willl evaporate. The Sea Boss shoots out huge water cannonballs. Gamabunta dodges them as he gets closer. He tells Naruto that he'll spit out oil and Naruto to light it with a fire technique. Naruto can't do a fire technique so he throws a kunai with an explosive tag. The Sea Boss is consumed by fire and disappears. But now it's time for Naruto to suffer Gamabunta's punishment for covering him in warts. He flicks Naruto high into the air and though he is not satisfied with the punishment, his kids are waiting for him, so he returns.

Anko tells Amachi that as a prisoner of war he will return to Konoha with them. Amachi tells Isaribi to fight them but she refuses. Amachi laughs and tells her he couldn't return her back to normal anyway. Anko asks Amachi where is Orochimaru but he doesn't know and insults her by saying "for a person that was thrown away by Orochimaru, it's better for you to always be chasing after him." Amachi claims he's different and could eventually surpass Orochimaru with his experiments. Anko punches him out.

Anko rows to Jiroujima Island where she thinks she'll find shards of her memories. Anko enters a padlocked building. Her cursed seal activates and she recalls being kept there suffering in great pain after Orochimaru bit her. He returns with Amachi and says that out of 10 only one survived. This is "Sarigi's smallest harvest."

He tells Amachi he can do what he wants as he has no further use for her. He is about to leave but Anko grabs his ankle and asks him why he is doing this when she has always respected him. He tells her she is lacking the will to seek power, vengeance, hate and everything else, but he decides to let her live as she may be some use to him. He tells her to come with him but she refuses. Orochimary leaves saying he'll find a more excellent child.

Back to present, Anko realizes she wasn't abandoned she made the choice herself. Her team waits for her at the pier. Isasribi asks to go with them. Naruto, Shino, and Ino think Tsunade may be able to help her. Anko is already waiting for them on the boat.

Review: Decent ending to another filler. Anko's past was nicely resolved even with the Itachi-like speech by Orochimaru.

Notes:

Slugs have a very high water content and will shrivel in salt water.

Where was the Sea Boss all this time? How long does it take for it to recover from Naruto's escape?

Amachi is now a prisoner of war but since when was there a war?

Who were the other 10 test subjects besides Anko?

Why didn't they kill Anko after she refused to go with Orochimaru?
