Ep 156: Raiga’s Counterattack!

The team races to rebuild before the storm. Neji notes that the thunder came from Katabame Kinzan village.

Raiga sees Ranmaru’s lifeless body and accuses Karashi who then explains how Ranmaru brought him to life. Tenten sees Raiga and attacks with a volley of kunais. She whips out a scroll to summon a chain and wraps it around Raiga, then another scroll yields a flurry of various weapons. Raiga’s sword attracts lightning which deflects the weapons and destroys the chain. The chains whips around and knocks Tenten back. Raiga attacks her directly with his swords but Tenten whips out another scroll and a long wooden pole appears. She twirls it around then hits Raiga on the foot and then the jaw and stomach. Raiga tries to stab her but she catches the sword with her pole and disarms him. But Raiga uses his other sword to split her pole lengthwise, then he sends electricity down the shaft and knocks Tenten out. Raiga accuses Karashi again but he blames the Konoha shinobi. Raiga orders Karashi to bring them here.

Tenten wakes up and realizes Ranmaru is still alive so she carries him to a hut as it starts to rain. Meanwhile the guys have reinforced the curry shop against the storm Karashi runs up to them and says that Tenten was training him but when lightning struck, a tree fell, and she fell down the cliff. The Konoha genins run off to help while Karashi says he get a medical kit. After they leave Karashi tries to get his mother to escape with him.

Neji knows that Karashi was lying and they’re walking into a trap. Meanwhile Tenten notes that Ranmaru has a temperature. She lectures him on the lives he took and how he should take responsibility. The guys see Raiga. Naruto attacks directly with his kunai but Lee knocks him away. Neji explains that Raiga used his chakra before for his attacks but now he’s using real lightning. Raiga sends a surge of lightning at them and the team lies low on the ground. Naruto uses kage bunshin repeatedly to get close to Raiga. His clones all get destroyed but he finally appears in front of Raiga. But then Neji appears behind Raiga and is about to use jyuuken when lightning hits him then Naruto. Both of them collapse and now it’s Lee’s turn and he takes off his weights.

Tenten carries Ranmaru back to the curry shop. His mom conks Karashi on the head then they make the curry of life for Ranmaru but he refuses to eat it until Tenten lectures him on how people live by supporting each other. After finish the bowl, Ranmaru says he wants Raiga to taste it too.

Meanwhile Lee is getting shocked but he stills stands to Raiga’s surprise.

Review: Some passable action and character development for Tenten.

Notes:

If Raiga is channeling lightning, shouldn't the lightning look like it's coming from him rather than the sky? Lightning normally appears as if it's coming from the ground.

Weapons summons are cool and practical!
