Choji thinks he’s done it, but Jiroubou activates stage 2 of his cursed seal and lifts up giant Choji then hits him with Rising Impact Palm. Choji returns to normal size and falls hard to the ground. He looks up to see Jiroubou who now has hair (more like an orange mane) brown skin with warts. Jiroubou says in stage two he has ten times the strength as original. Choji is in pain from the side effects of using the curry pill. Jiroubou beats him up a bit and says "playing ninja games suits guys like you."

Choji flashback: A bunch of kids about eight years old pick teams to play ninja. Choji’s team runs to hide. Choji follows one boy instead of hiding and gets hit by some cardboard shurikens. He and the other boy get tied up and the boy comments that the team Choji is on always loses.

Jiroubou grabs Choji by the neck and starts to consume his chakra, but after a bit, he can’t consume any more. He tosses Choji to the ground. Choji’s hand reaches for a bag of chips. Jiroubou steps on his hand and grabs the bag and eats the last remaining chip. Jiroubou calls him trash and says "Die pig who’s always left out by everyone."

Choji flashback: Choji is being told by the other kids that they don’t want him to play ninja with them since the team he’s on always loses and he’s too slow. Shikamaru protests that the numbers won’t match and that shougi is fun with the right number of pieces in play. But the other boy says it’s better not to have a worthless piece from the start. Choji leaves and sees a butterfly caught in a web. He reaches up and frees it. Shikamaru watches him. Choji and his dad sit on top of a roof. Choji tells his dad that they say the Akimichi family is full of slow fatties. His dad tells him he is kinder than anyone and that some day he will find a friend who sees that.

Shikamaru makes a mark on a tree to let Choji know where they’re headed. Naruto and Kiba carve something as well.

Jiroubou decides to finish off Choji. Choji thinks of taking the read pepper pill but if he takes that he’ll definitely die.

Shikamaru flashback: Shikamaru follows a butterfly that leads him to Choji and his dad on top of the roof. He says Choji is on his special seat where he likes to lie on to watch the clouds. He sits next to Choji and share his chips and they watch the clouds.

Choji takes the red pepper pill as Jiroubou uses Pressure Palm. He smashes his palm against the ground, but Choji is gone. Chakra butterflies fly all around. Choji appears to have wings on his back. Jiroubou tries to hit him with Boulder Strike but Choji grabs his fist and says he is 100 times stronger than before! He elbows Jiroubout and knocks him down and says that was for eating the last chip. Choji gives him another punch for calling him trash. Then he concentrates all his chakra in his left hand and punches Jiroubou in the chest for insulting his best friend. Jiroubou’s cursed seal recedes and he’s apparently dead.

Choji collapses to the ground as well, then he gets up and picks up his headband. He follows a butterfly to a marker. He notes that "Hurry up and come" was by Naruto and "We’re all waiting" was by Kiba. He starts to cry and clutches his heart and thinks of the friends he’s made. He collapses by the tree. A butterfly flies by Shikamaru who looks behind him. Last shot is of Choji unconscious, possibly dead, by the tree, and a butterfly fluttering around him.

Review:

Good action episode, touching flashbacks, and a tragic ending. This is why Naruto’s a great show!

Notes:

Choji means butterfly.

If the cursed seal stage 2 increases Jiroubou’s strength by 10x, and the red pill increases Choji’s strength by 100x, if Jiroubou started out five times stronger than Choji, he’s be at 50 points, but Choji would be at 100 points, and at least 2x stronger than Jiroubou at the end.

Thoughts:

Looks like Choji got skinnier after using up his chakra and after taking the red pill.

Skinny Choji is kind of cute.
