Ep 14: Naruto's Growth

Samehada returns to Kisame. Gai takes out his nunchucks. Kisame attacks.

Naruto is surrounded by three Itachi clones. He takes them out with kunai but they seem to float in the air, then break apart into crows. The crows circle above him and reform into Itachi. Naruto realizes he's caught in a genjutsu but he didn't look into Itachi's eyes. Itachi explains he can cast genjutsu with a single finger and adds that he won't or rather can't use the mangekyou sharingan right now.

Flashback to Jiraiya teaching Naruto how to dispel genjutsu. Naruto protests he wants to learn how to use it not dispel it. Jiraiya explains genjutsu are techniques that control the flow of chakra in your opponent's brain, giving you power over all five senses. If you get caught you need to stop the chakra flow. Naruto walks on water and stops his chakra flow for a second and falls into the water. As soon as it stops, he can break the hold by redirecting all chakra at once. If he can do that the genjutsu will end. Present Naruto tries to focus his chakra.

As Kisame and Gai fight, Gai is wary of Samehada's blades that come out. Tenten is almost out of breath. Kisame summons Suiton, Suikoudan no jutsu (water element, water shark missile) and a water shark attacks Gai directly. Gai blocks with his nunchucks and arms. Kisame forces Samehada down against Gai's nunchucks. Gai notes his strength is superhuman, but he still can't remember him. Kisame lands a blow and then summons suiton, goshoku-zame (water element, five man-eating sharks). Gai avoids two water sharks, punches one in the mouth, and gets injured by the fourth. He fights the fifth shark but the sharks can reform. Tenten is at her limit, and Gai realizes he's out of time. He opens his inner chakra gates. Massive chakra is released underwater. A whirlpool forms above him.

Neji sees an opening in the water prison as Kisame is distratced and uses Hakke Rokujuuyon Shou (eight divinations sixty-four strike). He breaks out of his water prison, takes out the clones and releases his teammates. Lee takes out the clones as Neji checks on Tenten.

Pillars of water climb the sky as Gai and Kisame take their fight to the air.

Naruto dispels the genjutsu. Itachi notes he's improved.

End: Neji and Tenten narrates Konoha Clan Record Chapter one - Hyuuga clan. Tenten asks Neji what is Hinata's younger sister's name. Neji has to think for a sec before coming up with Hanabi.

Review: Somehow the Gai fight is just not exciting.

Genjutsu are techniques that control the flow of chakra in your opponent's brain, giving you power over all five senses, advanced ninjutsu that requires lots of intelligence.

Thoughts:
Kisame doesn't know where that healing ability came from. He doesn’t seem to be familiar with the opening the chakra gates. Is it just a Konoha technique?
