Ep 11: The Healing Ninja's Pupil

Naruto steps in front of Kakashi. He and a clone stop Chiyo’s attack to avenge her son. Kakashi protests, but Chiyo’s not listening. Her brother stops her saying he looks like White Fang but he’s not since White Fang died long ago. Chiyo realizes her mistake and tries to cover her embarrassment by saying she’s just kidding.

Sakura binds her hair up and asks everyone to stand back while she looks at Kankurou. She checks his pupils with a flashlight, sticks her fingers in his mouth, and listens to his heart. She says the poison is refined from heavy metals which gets into the muscles and destroys the cells. She asks for his medical chart. Kankurou’s heart muscles are being destroyed and will stop functioning soon. Even if she prepares an antidote it will not in time. She orders the medics to gather items for a more drastic measure.

Meanwhile something is being pulled from Gaara's orifices.

Sakura asks her assistants to hold down Kankurou. She forms a large ball from a solution and presses it with chakra into Kankurou’s body to draw the poison out into the ball. She continues to do this repeatedly.

Meanwhile Naruto asks Kakashi about White Fang. Kakashi says he's best described as his father.

Sakura removes most of the poison so Kakurou is no longer in danger, but there's still trace amounts so she needs to make an antidote. She asks for medicinal herbs, orders the removal of Kankurou’s bandages, the preparation of an IV drip, and to save a small amount of poison. Chiyo observes Sakura is like “that slug girl.” Sakura says she's her teacher and she sent all of them here. Chiyo and her brother realize times have changed.

The messenger bird arrives in Sand with a message for Kakashi informing him Konoha has sent Gai's team as reinforcements. Kakashi asks Baki how they're tracking Gaara and the Akatsuki. He admits they lost their trail but then Kankurou wakes. Kakashi says he's a pro at tracking and asks for his puppets.

At a greenhouse of medicinal herbs, Sakura finds tomoshiri grass, enough for three doses of anti-venom.

Kankurou's puppet Karasu has a scrap of Sasori's mask. Kakashi takes it for tracking and summons his eight nin dogs. They sniff the scrap and head off.

Chiyo asks Kankurou about Sasori and he confirms that it was he.

Sakura prepares the antidote for Kankurou. Naruto's ready to go but Kakashi recommends they rest since they'll have some difficult battles starting tomorrow.

Kankurou flashbacks to Gaara. Kankurou asks Naruto to take care of Gaara. Naruto says since he's going to be Hokage, it's a chance for the Kazekage to owe him one.
End: Special lecture - Temari and Kankurou discuss his puppets. Temari says they freak her out. Kankurou likes to talk to his puppets.

Review: Sakura’s poison removal was cool.

Notes:
Kakashi's father killed Chiyo's son, that was probably about 20-30 years ago.
tomoshiri grass - rather rare plant about 6 cm tall, has small white flowers in May-June. Found on the coasts of Hokkaïdo on sandy and rock beaches.

Thoughts:
Sakura checks Kankurou’s pupils with a flashlight and sticks her fingers in his mouth. She should wear gloves! And she didn't washup! Didn’t she learn hygiene?
