Naruto wakes and finds himself somewhere unfamiliar. He walks down a hall and hears Yakumo arguing with Kurenai about becoming a ninja. Kurenai says she has to seal away her powers. Naruto rushes in and bangs his head. He wakes up in the hospital. Sakura banged a cymbal to wake him. He recalls dreaming Kurenai was attacked and he got his heart torn out. Sakura scolds him for breaking into a mansion under special guard and says the ANBU are on the move. Naruto thinks his dream was too realistic and runs off again before Sakura can give him a shot to fully wake him up.

Naruto knocks on Kurenai's door, but Gai says she's gone out and asks Naruto to join him on a morning marathon to sweat out all the impurities that accumulate as you sleep. Naruto runs off to find Kurenai and asks her about his dream where she used a sealing technique on the girl. She says it's not his business, but Naruto persists. Finally Kurenai admits that she used a sealing jutsu and took away her pupil’s abilities well over a year ago. She thinks someone like herself can't take charge of young genin's lives. She uses genjutsu on Naruto which wraps him in vines.

The ANBU guy says they are completely surrounded and sends one of the medics to get word to the village. Shuriken fly and several attacking shinobi are hit but that was just genjutsu. Vines wrap around the ANBU and the remaining medic. The other medic sends a pigeon off with a message for the Hokage.

Yakumo works on a painting. Two shinobi appear in the door.

On top of the Hokage mansion, Sakura is still drying documents. The bird with the message poops on her as it flies overhead, Tsunade is stamping paperwork when Sakura rushes in with the bird and message from the mansion. Gai, Team 8, and Sakura rush toward the main branch’s mansion. The message suggests Yakumo may be kidnapped by members of the Kurama family who are after her main branch’s hidden ninjutsu or who want to awaken her latent powers.

Sakura trips over Naruto’s feet. Akamura pees on him, but he still won't wake. Sakurs dispels the genjutsu. Naruto finally wakes and tells them about Kurenai going to the cottage.

Meanwhile Kurenai arrives at the cottage but realizes something is wrong. She runs toward the cottage but vines appear and she’s trapped. A large pod opens to reveal a bald ninja. But she’s caught him in her genjutsu. She appears from a large bud and wraps the ninja in vines and chokes him unconscious.

Kurenai appears from the ground inside the manor. She runs down the hall and finds the room with the paintings where two ninja are caught in Yakumo's genjutsu. She hears crying. The paintings fall to the ground and reveal Yakumo crying behind the Kurenai painting. Kurenai comforts Yakumo who breaks into a sly smile.

An older man finds the bald ninja Kurenai took out and releases the genjutsu. He and his men plan to get Yakumo at all costs.

Hinata sees four people attacking the manor.

Review: All the genjutsu users are plant oriented. No one does anything original.

Notes:
Subbers use cottage, mansion and manor interchangeably, but the house is more like a small mansion than a cottage. Manor refers to the estate.
Gai quiote: “The fierce beast of Konoha won't let a maiden shed tears.”
Kurenai and Gai are apparently neighbors in an apartment complex.

Thoughts:
The scene with Gai is weird. Gai acts like an automaton.
