Ep 145: Explosion! New Formation Ino-Shika-Chou

Tsunade had sent Ino, Shikamaru, and Chouji to help Naruto. The two brothers are able to fight against Shikamaru’s kagemane no jutsu with brute force. Naruto runs off to find Mizuki.

Iruka sees a trail of blood on the ground. Suddenly the environment around him starts to change and he starts to sink into the ground. He recognizes that it’s genjutsu. Then a puppet emerges from the ground. Iruka uses Kai and the environment returns to normal but the puppet is still there and attacks with a sword. Iruka leaps up and takes out the puppet with a swift kick. He notes that using a puppet right after genjutsu takes talent. Mizuki appears on top of a rock and compliments Iruka on recognizing the puppet was real.

Shikamaru struggles to hold the two brothers. Chouji runs over to hold Raijin while Ino uses Shintenshin no jutsu to transfer her mind into Fuujin. Ino falls into Shikamaru’s arms. He has to release his shadow bind for a few seconds to catch her body, then returns to his technique.

Mizuki and Iruka stand in front of a building. Iruka asks him why he wastes such advanced techniques. Mizuki goes on a rant on how he will never acknowledge Iruka and how he made himself into a devil to complete missions but no one acknowledged him. Flashback to mission: Mizuki carries a large scroll, an important secret document, on his back, and is flanked by two other shinobis. While running along, one of the others gets hit in the leg by a kunai and he trips and says he can’t feel his leg. Mizuki takes a look at it and says it’s not good. The other shinobi runs off but Mizuki stays behind and suffocates the guy with his bare hand. Back to present: Mizuki rants more about not being acknowledged.

Another flashback: Iruka and Mizuki are about to take the Academy Teaching Exams. Iruka is concerned and says Mizuki has better marks. The exam is held in the building they’re standing by in present time. Iruka walks along in the darkness and trips over a chakra wire . Mizuki appears and calls out to him to duck, saving Iruka. The exam results are posted. Iruka passed. Mizuki gets upset and runs off. He stops in front of door to the exam office and hears the Hokage holding a conference with other teachers. They propose to watch him for a while. They discuss Mizuki’s behavior on the secret document retrieval mission. They have examined the body and thinks he was suffocated and the leg injury wasn’t that serious.

Back in present Mizuki rants some more then enters the building behind him. Iruka follows and the door closes behind him. It’s dark as he walks around. Mizuki attacks and kunais clash.

Fuujin punches Raijin as Chouji holds him down. Raijin grabs Fuujin’s neck and punches him back. Ino goes back to her body but her face is swollen. Raijin picks up Chouji and throws him. Fuujin is back in his own body. Shikamaru uses kage kubishibari and shadow hands rise up to strangle the two brothers.

Mizuki says how he was in jail and darkness for a year but was able to learn techniques that an ordinary shinobu could not. Even in the darkness he can sense Iruka’s presence. Mizuki appears behind Iruka then in front and kicks him to the ground.

Meanwhile Shikamaru struggles with the two brothers and Ino attempts Shinranshin no jutsu (mind-body confusion technique) on Raijin to attack Fuujin.

Naruto and Pakkun are close but they are followed by Tsubaki who is apparently also a shinobi.

Iruka blocks kunais in the dark but finally gets hit by one in the left arm.

Ino and Shikamaru struggle against the two brothers. Choji steps in. Blue chakra swirls around him as he announces Bubun baika no jutsu (partial multi size technique). Both his hands expand to grab the two brothers.

Iruka notes that he can’t sense Mizuki’s presence. Iruka concentrates really hard and has the impression that Mizuki set exploding notes then left. The building explodes just as Naruto arrives.

Review:

Mizuki raving about being acknowledged was extremely annoying. Works for a 12 year old, not a grown man no matter how psycho.

Notes:

Mizuki learned the genjutsu and puppet technique on his own.

Fuujin and Raijin possess the same strength as Tsunade.

Thoughts:

It’s unclear why Mizuki freaked out. It seemed that he passed but maybe Iruka scored higher.
