Ep 134: The Conclusion of the Rain of Tears

Naruto attacks Sasuke, clawing the ground as he runs. He crashes Sasuke against the rocks but Sasuke’s handlike wing protects him and knocks Naruto back. Another wing sprouts from Sasuke’s back. But then he winces in pain as the cursed seal will erode the body if he hold that released form for too long (flashback to Sakon). Naruto can’t feel his left hand. Sasuke notes that they are fighting in the Valley of the End and it’s time to finish this battle. Flashback to Iruka announcing Team 7, the bells test, the chuunin exams, fighting at the hospital, etc. Sasuke performs the seals for chidori while Naruto starts his rasengan. The two attacks clash directly and a huge purple black sphere is formed. Sasuke punches Naruto in the gut while Naruto scratches his headplate.

Kakashi suddenly gets a very bad feeling of immense chakra.

The black sphere expands and then finally cracks in a linear geometric pattern and explodes.

Flashback to when Sasuke and Naruto were kids holding fingers.

Naruto lies on the ground. Sasuke stands over him and his forehead protector falls off. It starts to rain heavily. Sasuke suddenly winces in pain again and collapse sto his knees.

Kakashi is concerned that the rain will wash away the scent but Pakkun says they’re nearby. They leap down the cliff face to find Naruto’s body. Pakkun sniffs Sasuke’s headband. Kakashi picks up the headband and places it on top of Naruto’s body. Then he picks up Naruto saying, "I’m sorry…I didn’t make it in time."

Sasuke is walking along slowly. Flashback to his father, mother and Itachi.

Kakashi carries Naruto on his back. He has climbed back up the cliffs and looks over the huge statues saying, " The Valley of the End…for Naruto and Sasuke to fight in a place like this…" Pakkun says "It’s ironic." Kakashi answers, "Yeah, if you observe the river’s flow it seems to go on forever without stopping as if marking the battle. Like the fate of the two who founded the village of Konoha. Naruto and Sasuke your lives are like theirs." Naruto starts to wake up.

Sasuke thinks about Itachi’s words to kill his best friend in order to awaken the mangekyou sharingan. He thinks "I will not do as you say. I will obtain power in my own way. I will surpass you in my own way. Definitely…"

Kakashi notes the rain has stopped. Pakkun says he can’t pursue Sasuke anymore and it’s more important to treat Naruto. Kakashi agrees and they walk off.

Then out of he ground a man in an Akatsuki robe with half black face and half white face with yellow eyes and head encased in a venus fly trap like thing says, "Things have become interesting."

Review:

Excellent animation and emotions.

Notes:

Sasuke’s wings look like hands with multiple fingers, very creepy but not aerodynamic.

Sasuke’s chidori how has black sparks instead of blue/white.

Konoha was founded by Shodaime and the guy represented by the other statue.

Thoughts:

Did Sasuke miss killing Naruto on purpose? Was Naruto just aiming for the forehead protector?

The cursed seal appears to change the color of the chakra.

Is the one facing Shodaime the Tsuchikage or possibly Raikage?

What if Sasuke gets the Mangekyou after killing Itachi who was basically his best friend growing up.
