Ep 117: A Cool Guy’s Burning Battle!
The Genius Ninja Will Go Wild Special (Part 2)

Ep 116-117 shown as double episode special

Summary:

Kidoumaru shoots the arrow predicting 100% accuracy. When the dust clears, the arrow leaves a huge crater, but Neji is still standing with a hole through his right shoulder, missing his vital spot by 15 centimeters. Kidoumaru can now see the chakra all around Neji and notes that he covers his entire body with the chakra constantly and was able to move the arrow slightly with the chakra. Neji realizes Kidoumaru figured out the byakugan’s weakness and he is the strongest enemy he’s ever faced. Kidoumaru analyzes that Neji has a blind spot. Neji runs away while pulling out the kunais from his back (ouch!). Kidoumaru makes another arrow this time leaving a thread on the end to guide it. Neji’s forehead protector flies off. The arrow cuts his cheek. Kidoumaru thinks the arrow missed because of the tree. Neji is low on chakra and falls to the ground.

Kidoumaru makes another arrow with a twisted tip to keep it on course even if it hits a tree. Neji stands up and thinks that Kidoumaru is stronger than him, then flashes back to Naruto. He thinks he can’t dodge the next one. Kidoumaru shoots the arrow thinking 120% accuracy, destruction level super maximum. The arrows goes through Neji’s lower right side. He grabs the thread and forces chakra into it. Chakra travels via the thread into Kidoumaru who falls off the branch. Neji flashbacks to Naruto’s rantings.

Kiba, Shikamaru and Naruto are still in pursuit. Naruto says Choji and Neji will catch up and that Neji is a true genius. Neji cuts the string from his side and runs toward Kidoumaru, thinking he can’t lose, even if his body rots, because he has a reason…

Kidoumaru shoots out a thread to stop himself from falling. Neji runs up to him and hits him multiple times. Kidoumaru is down and can no longer produce chakra and asks how Neji can still be alive. Neji explains he let himself get hit on purpose. He knows his own weakness and if he were to attack at his blind spot, he would release his chakra in that spot to perceive the attack, and he moved so that it missed by a few centimeters. He would be severely damaged but wouldn’t die instantly. Kidoumaru days Neji will die too, and asks how he can go so far. Neji replies he has a reason (flashback to Naruto), he’s a genius. Neji falls to his knees, reaches for his forehead protector, flashback to his father, and says he won’t die so easily. Kidoumaru tells him Sasuke went to the Sound on his own free will. Neji says how Naruto saved him from darkness. Kidoumaru falls back and thinks he hasn’t been taken this far since he fought Kimimaro and closes his eyes. Neji is also down, has a number of flashbacks, then thinks "I’ll leave the rest to you guys." His eyes are closed and a feather floats onto his open palm.

Review: A very good fight with strategy and more analysis, and another sad ending.

Notes:

Neji’s blind spot is behind his first thoracic vertebra (lower neck).

Thoughts:

Pulling out the kunais from Neji’s back is not a good idea. That promotes bleeding. It’s probably better to leave them in until he can get medical attention.
